GREEN AND YELLOW DAYS BEFORE THE SEASON TRYOUTS
WEATHER PERMITTING (AT LEAST 40 DEGREES AND COURTS DRY)
SCHEDULE:
Wednesday, February 5 4:20-5:30
Wednesday, February 12 4:20-5:30
Wednesday, February 19 4:20-5:30 yellow day
Must have a school physical on file. (Look at the gray box at the bottom of the page)
There are late buses available every Wednesday with a 6:30 departure time at Door 12.
REGISTERING TO TRYOUT TO MAKE THE TEAM FOR SPRING 2025
IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRYOUT PLEASE READ THE BELOW "GRAY BOX" FOR DETAILS.
You need to be cleared to tryout.
Tryout Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria SPRING 2025
- TRYOUTS will start on Monday, February 24.
- Boys Tennis will be trying out at Holmes Middle School. Bus will arrive by 4:15 at Door 10.
- Tryouts will end at 6pm.
- Tryouts will continue for the next 2-4 days, and most likely final cuts by the end of the week on Saturday.
- Parents to pickup at Holmes Middle School after tryouts.
- Wear appropriate clothing for the outside elements and bring water.
- *In case of weather, check the above team twitter account for updates.
- Criteria to be selected are:
- Varsity Tennis Skills right now. Projected to be a Starter this year and the top Alternates.
- Projection to be able to play Varsity Level in the future.
- Also considering being a Team Player, Leadership, Ability to learn and Attitude.
- You must be in good standing with Fairfax County Public Schools and TJ.
- You must follow the Extra-curricular participation policy.
COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE BOYS TENNIS TEAM
- Must have 2 tennis rackets (racket provided for tryouts if needed). There are no stringing services at the school but Coach Palomo will find a vendor to help with stringing for you.
- A uniform shirt will have to be purchased by the participant (Cost is $25). It will be yours to keep. If anyone needs some financial support for the required shirt please let Coach Palomo know.
- You will be required to provide your own black tennis shorts for matches.
- Players will rotate bringing snacks for the matches.
TENNIS COURTS FOR PRACTICES
We will be rotating with the girls team between our TJ Courts and the courts at Holmes Middle School. Tryouts we will be at Holmes MS. The next week we will be at TJ and then vice versa throughout the season. Bus for Holmes comes at 4:15 at Door 10. Parents pickup at Holmes Middle School.
